What's New with Library Search? #12

This is a card/box on the Library Search homepage that states the highlighted enhancements in the current release. It also links to the release notes, here in GitHub.

Featured Collection Carousel #4

A new Featured Collection Carousel is on the homepage. This is a place the Library and Museum will highlight various collections. The first featured collection is of NIST authors in Journal of Visualized Experiments (JoVE). The Library and Museum has access to JoVE Unlimited, which includes 18,000+ videos illustrating key concepts, research techniques, and experiments across multiple science disciplines. You can access all articles/videos by going to https://www.jove.com/ while on the NIST network.

Identifiers (DOI, ISBN, ISSN) Display Records

Identifiers now display for most records in the detailed view, e.g., DOI, ISBN, ISSN.

Fixes

• Since search history is removed after each session logout we removed "View your search history" from the homepage tips section. #26

Enhancements

The following feature enhancements are live in NIST Library Search.

What am I searching? #2

The NIST Library Search homepage now displays a graphic that shows the four search profiles. It links to a new page that explains in more detail what each search profile searches.

Try My Search In Widget #13

"Try My Search In" displays on search results pages. This allows users to run the query on other platforms, e.g., CHIPS Lit, Google Scholar, and WorldCat.

Updated No Records Found page #11

When a search query finds no records, the resulting page recommends common fixes and other databases to try the search in.

NIST Library Search Feedback

NIST Library Search now has general site-wide feedback. This is intended to provide general site feedback, whether it's something you like or think needs improvement, send us a message.

This appears on all pages with an exclamation mark in a chat bubble:

This pops up a simple form to select before entering details.

NIST Research Library & Museum June Release

This is the first release using our GitHub repository workflow. You can expect future releases to be tied to a regular schedule, following Ex Libris' quarterly feature release (August, November, February, May). Follow the GitHub Project for future releases and status of fixes and features.

Feature

• Reactivated Citation Linker/Fetch Item for DOI and PMID search only. Issue #5 resolved.

Bug Fix

• "Search Inside" appeared for print journals. Issue #6 fixed
