The issue is reproducible in vanilla Hyper.app: No, Background color transparency will be needed.
Issue
When enabling the transparency of the terminal, sometimes ghost shells or outputs of previous commands are visible, sometimes are visible all the time and some are visible only when the shell looses focus.
I've tried with vanilla config with only transparency, enabling and disabling webGLRenderer, no plugins are installed and still the issue persists as seen here:
This has been reported previously on #2719 and #6131 but is unclear if there was a fix on hyper for it or if the issue is somewhere else.

Have been having this same issue with transparency, have been trying to disable any potential configurations I have set, all the way to reinstalling everything, but eventually the ghost texts keeps reappearing.
At this point I'm pretty sure that this is just how transparency works currently (at least on MacOS), and that's a little unfortunate. Not sure if we'll get a fix for this but here's to hoping. 🙏
I am on the latest Hyper.app version
I have searched the issues of this repo and believe that this is not a duplicate
