Is there an existing issue for this?

  • I have searched the existing issues

Environment

  • OS: macOS Sequoia 15.1.1
  • Zotero Version: 7+
  • Plugin Version: 2.1.6

Describe the feature request

I am an avid user of Orgmode in Emacs, and have linked Zotero with plugins such as Citar https://github.com/emacs-citar/citar that read an external bibliography (in my case, Better BiBTeX generated) and allow easy importing of citations and paper information into Orgmode.

It would be cool to take notes in Zotero using BetterNotes and then export the content in Org syntax, ready to be pasted.

Describe the solution you'd like

The solution you'd like
An option of using Orgmode along HTML, Markdown, MM, ...for notes export.

Alternatives you've considered
I usually edit the notes I export in Markdown manually.

Anything else?

Implementation should be relatively easy as Org and Markdown's simplest syntaxes are relatively similar and the output is plaintext just like Markdown.

I can lend a hand if necessary.

I did some search but found no existing package that can convert HTML or markdown to org-mode in JS. Unfortunately, that would be a blocker.

Would it be necessary to have a full-fledged Markdown-Orgmode converter? I don't know the extent of the conversions that are necessary, but I thought it was mostly headlines and hyperlinks.
