Implement list of legacy verified accounts in preparation for Verified shutdown #91
Comments
I have a list of all legacy verified users in CSV format here https://github.com/gdams/twitter-legacy-verified |
I also have a search tool available https://gdams.github.io/twitter-legacy-verified/ |
Perhaps might be the time to consider this option. Here are some dumps I've found, including the one above from @gdams (entry counts not sanitised): |
Be cautious of the various lists published, the count that I published (419731) was correct as of the date that the legacy verified program was shut down (in June of 2021). I've seen several lists that have added bogus users in an attempt to claim "legacy verified" status. |
I was thinking about writing a REST endpoint that could be queried to check whether an account is legacy verified. If this would be beneficial, let me know, and I'll put something together. |
Okay I've put something together as it helps me with a project I'm working on anyway. See the swagger UI here https://twitter-legacy.herokuapp.com/swagger-ui/ |
So, will this make it into an update before the 20th, or is it looking like later? |
Well, April 20th has passed... all legacy checkmarks are now gone. |

Things are getting really weird tonight; I'm losing track of what's going on... @wseagar any updates? |
"On April 1st, we will begin winding down our legacy verified program and removing legacy verified checkmarks."
Apparently, someone was able to get the full list of verified accounts, so is it possible that this list be used to look up for legacy verified accounts moving forward?
