Thanks for the compliments! However, they still share the same "domain" name in Home Assistant, which is why they both can't work alongside each other in the same instance, They both shares the configuration and icon etc. |

I'd also suggest a name change:
I guess the questions would be: do you really think u will sync (back or forward) with the "original repo"? If not, I'd definitely make this a "hard" fork, no hesitation ;) |

I agree with a name change or add an extra word to make it different ... I haven't installed it yet but I read a lot and I'm really wondering if I can install and keep the old Local Tuya alongside at least until I setup all the gadgets again, I have 74 devices with their own entities which it would make a mess on my automations if I change them .. |

This fork is substantially different from upstream, with sub device support and auto configuration.
It might help with exposure and findability to rename the fork, or perhaps add something like “remixed” to the name.
there’s been some serious effort here - it’s not localtuya anymore, it’s substantially better and more user friendly .
Of course it’s right to acknowledge the upstream etc, but it really is a hidden gem, and is worthy of its own identity.
