Sorry for the late reply, I think this is a great feature. But I don't have a very good understanding of file tags. It may take some time to fully understand it. In addition, this function does not seem to be very important at the moment, so I will put it on the Todo list, but there is no ETA for the time being. :( |

Hello. Didn't see it already existing anywhere so I'm posting this as idea.
I maintain a collection of programs that specialize in tagging of various things including the files themselves. superfile seems like a nice program that could have the tags supported across variety of platforms.
It would of course be up to the implementation, but on Linux the tags can be stored inside extended attributes just like on macOS so it only leaves the Windows in question.
Dolphin and CAJA file browsers store tags as a CSV in user.xdg.tags extended attribute so displaying the column with that may be a good start to add tagging support.

I may not help with development itself, but I've classified 49 programs so far so I may answer some question about how to approach certain things when it comes to tags.
