Need help setting up Karabiner

Hey! I am using karabiner since i want to enable my colemak layout on my new macbook keyboard but also extend its use so i can enable layers similar to those of my external split keyboard. i was fiddling around with karabiner and goku (because of the ease of use compared to karabiners .json syntax), and made colemak layout and the layers work like a charm :) BUT, one mayor issue i cant seem to fix is this: I want to enable the layers with the left_command key and right_command key. additionally i want the left_command key to act as ESCAPE key when tapped and the right_command key to act as delete_or_backspace key when tapped.

how can i enable this feature? regardless of my efforts i cant make it work to act as those keys when tapped and to enable my layers when held :/.

I was hoping to find some help here (bare with me, i am super new to macs and also to karabiner and goku)/
