Climbing System

Introduction

This project is a third-person project with a climbing system developed in Unreal Engine 4. This is a starting point for implementing advanced climbing systems. Concepts covered

  • A climbing system that includes ledge and knob climbing. (character switch between holding or hanging based on knob location)
  • Legs and arms IK for character animation.
  • Landscape material and runtime virtual texturing
  • Checkpoint system (Save player and map statistics)
  • Level manager (to load checkpoints and player respawn)
  • Interactable start and saving checkpoints
  • AI with sight and hearing sense. (guard designated points, attacking, searching and can be distracted by sound)
  • Pickup system
  • Map and minimap with actor indicators. (player, enemies, dangers, trophies, and interactable objects)
  • Danger zone actor and custom player death effect
  • Trigger volume for changing map and minimap (when entering a new place, maps update)
  • Niagara audio visualizer
  • Graphic, advanced graphic and audio settings with load and save functionality.
