The process to add a new drifter has been updated as of September 6th, 2017. The process no longer involves GitHub or pull requests.
New procedure:
-
- Login to the ocean navigator Gmail account.
-
- Open the /public/drifters/ folder.
-
- Download the file named "Drifter Deployments Report- Fisheries and Oceans Canada_2015-2016 - Aug 2017" make the required changes and upload it back to the same location (ie /public/drifters/ ) this will update the file without causing the share links to change. The download part of this step is not required (but it can't be modified as a google sheet), simply replace the file with one of the same name making sure it includes all of the drifters and not just the new ones.
-
- You are done. Check back the next day to make sure the new drifter is available.
Note: the script that is used to download the new drifter information is called get_drifters.py
and is run by a cron job under /etc/crontab at 3:55 am UTC
