The process to add a new drifter has been updated as of September 6th, 2017. The process no longer involves GitHub or pull requests.

New procedure:

    1. Login to the ocean navigator Gmail account.
    1. Open the /public/drifters/ folder.
    1. Download the file named "Drifter Deployments Report- Fisheries and Oceans Canada_2015-2016 - Aug 2017" make the required changes and upload it back to the same location (ie /public/drifters/ ) this will update the file without causing the share links to change. The download part of this step is not required (but it can't be modified as a google sheet), simply replace the file with one of the same name making sure it includes all of the drifters and not just the new ones.
    1. You are done. Check back the next day to make sure the new drifter is available.

Note: the script that is used to download the new drifter information is called get_drifters.py and is run by a cron job under /etc/crontab at 3:55 am UTC
