Releases: ICA-EGAD/RiC-O
RiC-O v1.0.2: two bugs fixed, and a new version IRI added
Here are the changes made in this version compared to the previous one, version 1.0.1 released in May 2024:
- one inconsistency bug fixed, removing global reflexivity from the 48 rolification object properties (see issue #111 and PR #115); in addition to this, a GitHub action has been added to carry out a consistency check whenever a branch is pushed or a pull request made (see PR #114);
- the French labels of six object properties have been corrected (see issue #116 and PR #117)
- a
owl:versionIRI
has been added to the ontology, in order to make it compliant with the OWL 2 specification as concerns ontology documents (see #112). This version IRI (https://www.ica.org/standards/RiC/ontology/1.0.2) can be dereferenced, like the ontology IRI (https://www.ica.org/standards/RiC/ontology) - a few typos and details have been corrected in the ontology documentation
- as a consequence, the HTML view and the CSV files have been regenerated
- the modularized version has been improved (moved the change notes about the property chain axioms from the core to the relations file)
- the readme files and website have been updated accordingly.
If you have already implemented RiC-O 1.0 or plan to do so, we recommend you use this version.
RiC-O v1.0.1: one bug fixed, and a few other details
Here are the main changes made in this version compared to the previous one, version 1.0 released in December 2023:
- one bug fixed in the IRI of rico:hasOrHadSomeMembersWithDocumentaryFormType ('with' replaced by 'With'), and a few typos corrected in several occurrences of rdfs:label or rdfs:comment (see issue #106 and PR #107).
- added a few details to the introduction of the ontology; replaced the
html:code
that illustrated the property chain axiom pattern by an image and changed the ids and headings of thediv
sections in the 'From RiC-CM to RiC-O' section (see issues #101 and #102)
Thus, of course, the following was also done:
- updated the metadata of the ontology (version, date, list of contributors)
- regenerated the HTML documentation, modularized version and CSV lists of components
- moved the RiC-O 1.0 files to the
previous-versions
folder - updated the readme files, and the source files of the HTML website (in the
docs
folder), accordingly.
Last but not least, RiC-O 1.0.1 is now accessible online through its IRI (https://www.ica.org/standards/RiC/ontology).
RiC-O 1.0: a major milestone, compliant with RiC-CM 1.0, and more!
This version is the third part of ICA Records in Contexts (RiC) standard 1.0, which is the first stable and complete version of the first three parts of RiC. It is therefore a major milestone in the development of RiC-O.
Here are the main changes made in this version compared to the previous one, version 0.2 released in February 21:
- fixed various bugs; removed some unnecessary formal declarations (see issue #46);
- made RiC-O fully compliant with version 1.0 of RiC-Conceptual Model: see the issue relating to the modification of the ontology as concerns the modeling of dates (#62), issue #45, and related issues, #73, #74, #75;
- created transitive object properties, subproperties of
rico:followsOrFollows
,rico:hasOrHadPart
,rico:hasOrHadSubordinate
, and of their inverse properties (see issue #41); - created some new object properties to respond to user requests:
rico:isAgentAssociatedWithPlace
,rico:isOrWasEmployerOf
;rico:wasMergedInto
andrico:wasSplitInto
(#53),rico:hasDeathPlace
andrico:hasBirthPlace
(#34),rico:hasOrHadAnalogueInstantiation
andrico:hasOrHadDigitalInstantiation
(#60), and of their inverse properties; - rolified the n-ary Relation classes (see issues #67); improved their documentation (see issue #38);
- added labels (
rdfs:label
) in French and Spanish for all classes and properties (see issues #43 and #87); - updated the metadata and the introduction of the ontology (see issue #76);
- provided accompanying material: a HTML view of the ontology, CSV lists of its components, updated examples (see issue #47);
- provided a modularized version of the ontology (see issue #44);
- updated the information website; among the pages, a new one was created.
Each of the modifications made in the OWL file is documented by a skos:changeNote
annotation added to the specification of the modified component.
These changes result in RiC-O version 1.0 being more compact than version 0.2, though at the same time functionally enhanced through the addition of a significant number of new components (mainly object properties).
In order to have a global overview of the changes, you can also read the new web page about migrating data from v0.2 to v1.0.
Again, a big "thank you" to all the people who, outside the ICA/EGAD group, contributed to the development of this version, through their requests, their comments, their advice or their help during the translation of the labels.
RiC-O v1.0-beta
This version, although it should only be used for testing purposes, is very close to the RiC-O 1.0 version, which will be released by the beginning of December 2023.
Here are the main changes made by this version compared to version 0.2 released in February 2021:
- fixed various bugs; removed some unnecessary formal declarations (#46);
- making RiC-O fully compliant with version 1.0-beta of RiC-CM: see the issue relating to the modification of the ontology as concerns the modeling of dates (#62), the issue #45, and the related ones, #73, #74, #75;
- creation of transitive object properties, subproperties of followsOrFollows, hasOrHadPart, hasOrHadSubordinate, and of their inverse properties (#41);
- addition of some properties to respond to user requests: isAgentAssociatedWithPlace, isOrWasEmployerOf; wasMergedInto and wasSplitInto (#53), hasDeathPlace and hasBirthPlace (#34), hasOrHadAnalogueInstantiation and hasOrHadDigitalInstantiation (#60), and of their inverse properties;
- rolification of the n-ary Relation classes (see #67);
- addition of labels (rdfs:label) in French for all classes and properties, and in Spanish for classes, datatype properties and 305 object properties out of 400 (#43)
- update of metadata and the introduction of the ontology (#76).
Each of the modifications made was documented by a skos:changeNote annotation added to the specification of the modified component.
In addition, an HTML page allowing anyone with an internet browser to easily consult the contents of the OWL file has been provided.
A big "thank you" to all the people who, outside the ICA/EGAD group, contributed to the development of this version, through their requests, their comments, their advice or their help during the translation of the labels.
