YUView 2.1 with new features and lots of fixes
We have updated the master branch of YUView to version 2.1!
Some new features that were in the development branches now made it to the master branch, including:
- Improved decoding using FFmpeg. In case you didn't know: YUView can not only display and analyze raw YUV data, it can also directly decode bitstreams. For HEVC bitstreams, this has always been possible with libde265 that comes included with YUView. However, if you have FFmpeg installed, you can also point YUView to your FFmpeg installation and decode and analyze almost anything with YUView!
- We have also included parsing capabilities of a new statistics file format that was presented by IENT at the Joint Video Expert Team (JVET) meeting (see document JVET-K0149 for more information on how to generate these statistics). The new statistics file format is text based and can be used as an overlay to visualize coding modes and other interesting information.
- Numerous bugfixes and stability improvements relating to caching, arcane YUV formats and GUI handling.
Some other things YUView can do:
- Compare videos/images side-by-side or by calculating a difference video. Great for spotting encoder / decoder missmatches!
- Analyze HEVC bitstreams using the integrated NAL-unit parser
- Create playlists for visual tests
