The Hawky project started off as an experiment to wrap a static site generator around Pandoc β€” a long time goal we have at ISLE, preferring Pandoc over all other Markdown implementations for its superior capabilities. This remains our goal. However it rapidly turned out that this exercise could also be the opportunity to rejuvenate the aging ISLE Dragonly PHP framework; it hence became an ISLE Summer of Code project (ISoC #56). Another by-product of the Hawky project is the Make-Bootstrap project to deliver a make(1) driven workflow for delivering HTML5 frontends using Bootstrap.
