Main

This web-app project can be used at the moment to check the project of the futur Algerian commercial port installed in deep waters that's set in the region of El Hamdania, Cherchell, Algeria.

Context

This "mega port project" is set in a controversial region from environmental studies perspectives but also cultural, historical and logistical perspectives since the area has an already important status due to it's forest zones, it's localisation within a wetland area, the roman ruins both on the surface and beneth the surface already uncovered as well as the tight location.

This release allows the users now not just to see how the plans for the infrastructures (port, futur roads and logistic zones) are set and planned but also use a set of imagery overlays with enviornemental indicies computed within raster images from Sentinel-2 satellite imagery. This gives a better understanding of how the natural features such the protected forest zones, the agricultural and farm lands are withing the current state verifying the health of vegetation and state of water bodies within the area in addition to few terrain visuals to apprehende the topography of the area of interest.

Features (new):

  • Changing main output map file's name to match source file (webmap.html).
  • Improved vector-based layers (GeoJSON) of the various spatial features of the port project, both natural and artificial.
  • Interactive vector layers: improuved attribute data within the GeoJSON files and better display of some feature layers.
  • Computed raster-based geographical data from satellite imagery using Copernecius project, Sentinel-2 MSI: MultiSpectral Instrument, Level-2A imagery collection.
  • Various calculated topography data:
    • DEM: Digital Elevation Model: based on NASA CGIAR/SRTM90_V4 image collection
    • Elevation
    • Slopes: ranging values [0.0° ,90°]
  • Imagery analysis of computed environmental indices:
    • NDVI (Normalized difference vegetation index)
    • Classified NDVI computed raster data: a set of 7 classes ranging between [0.0 , 1.0]
    • NDWI (Normalized difference water index)
  • Computed raster layers are masked and clipped to the area of interest.
  • A collapsible layer panel for optimal view.
  • A draggable map title
  • A draggable legend window.
  • Adraggable project stats and links (Project GitHub card).
