Package content

  • Cameras
  • Micro USB cables (one per camera)
  • Power adaters (one per camera)
  • Camera holders (one per camera)
  • Gateway
  • Gateway power adapter
  • Tags
  • Tag charger

Install the Gateway

To install the Gateway, simple plug the Power adapter and the Gateway will power up and start in about 30 seconds. You can make sure it is working by searching for a Wifi called "VR Tracker Gateway"

NOTE : VR Tracker Gateway Wifi password is "vrtracker"

It is advised to connect the Gateway to your internet router using its ethernet plug to receive updates. Any device connected to the Gateway will therefore have internet access. The cameras will also be able to receive updates.

Deploy the Cameras

Deploying the cameras is easy, but their position should be carefully chosen.

  • First install camera holders around the room
  • Put the cameras in the holder's brackets
  • Plug the USB power adapters
  • Plug the USB cables into the cameras

Camera setup advices

When setting up the cameras, be careful of the following points :

  • Avoid to have the cameras exactly facing each other
  • Avoid to have the cameras facing light sources (light bulb, windows) because they are very sensible to infrared perturbations
  • When the cameras are plugged, if their led is RED, it means an Infrared source was detected. If this occurs during installation, there is a light perturbing the detection. Try to change the orientation until the Led goes OFF. You can also change the camera brightness as explained here below.
  • At the moment, the detection algorithm is still weak when more than two cameras detects a user. This will be taken care of soon. Still, for the moment try to have the cameras working by pairs, and avoid having spaces where a tag could be detected by more than two cameras.
  • Install the cameras as high as possible, so they can see the user's tag at any time.
  • Avoid to put two cameras two close to each other. Keep at least one meter between them.

Connect the Cameras

When powering the cameras, make sure the Gateway is already powered, otherwise the cameras won't find the Gateway and go into Wifi configuration mode.

To make sure all cameras are connected, first you can scan available Wifi, you shouldn't see any Wifi called "VR Tracker CAMERA". If you do, either unplug and replug the camera or manually configure its Wifi by connecting to "VR Tracker CAMERA".

Manually configure Camera's Wifi

  • Connect to "VR Tracker CAMERA" Wifi
  • A popup page will appear, if not type the following address in a web browser : 192.168.4.1
  • Click "Scan" for available Wifi
  • A list of Wifi will appear, "VR Tracker Gateway" should show up in the list, select it. (If it doesn't show up and you are sure the Gateway is powered, you can still try to type "VR Tracker Gateway" in SSID)
  • In password field, type "vrtracker"
  • Validate, and reconnect to your usual Wifi, if the connection is successful "VR Tracker CAMERA" will disappear from available Wifi list

Check list of connected cameras

To check the list of cameras connected to the Gateway, you must first have a Tag ON. Then, with your computer connected to "VR Tracker Gateway" Wifi (pwd : "vrtracker"), open the following page in your web browser : Calibration Page Click "Connect" and you will see in the message log the list of cameras connected.

Connect the Tags

To connect a Tag, you must first have the Gateway powered. Turn on the Tag using the switch and it will connect automatically. When connected, the light will go from white to blue.

If the cameras fails to connect after 30 seconds, try to manually configure it. The procedure is exactly the same as "Manually configure Camera's Wifi"

Change cameras brightness

This step is optional, the cameras are already setup for a normal environnement. Later this will be done automatically, or wirelessly, but it isn't yet available in the camera's software.

  • Download Pixymon (WARNING : do not take version 2 ! Choose version 1.0.2beta)
  • Plug the camera to your computer (more informations here) Use mini USB cable, not the usual micro USB
  • When camera is detected, click the Configuration button

Pixymon config

  • Set the brightness here
