At the VAB, when trying to place a survey unit (both of them) on a ship, you hear the snap that is suppose to tell you that everything is in place but it isn't. once this have been done once you can't place any other parts (even vanilla). The exit button is block and the only way to reset it is to load an other rocket or press the new button.

It does it every time.
You can place as many vanilla part or kethane container as you want, there is no problem with them if you do it before placing the survey unit.

pic1: when you create the new vessel, you can place everything you want.

pic2: if you place a survey unit (here a medium) the green dot disappear. You can't place the survey unit

pic3: if you try placing an other part (there the same as pic1)

Had the same problem. Ran the KSP Patcher and it was fixed. Not sure what the actual problem was.

Wacen37 what KSP Patcher are you referring to? Because I have a very similar problem. When attempting to connect Kethane Parts to STOCK parts, I have to place them upside down (and inside the previous part) to get them to connect. This is untrue for certain parts (such as fuel tanks), which have 1 attachment node that works fine, but the other must be placed upside down (inside the existing part). In other words, I can't make any ship with Kethane.
