05. Guest Instruction (Stream senders)

Shinichi Hanayama edited this page Jan 17, 2025 · 1 revision

A large number of OBS instances (and a large number of SRC-Link users) sending clean-feeds are called guests.

  1. The guest side also needs to sign up, so please sign up/login to SRC-Link Control Panel with a web browser.

  2. Install the SRC-Link plugin in the guest's OBS Studio Download here

Both guest and host use the same plugin.

For windows user: Just download osi-src-link-[version]-windows-x64-Installer-signed.exe from Assets and run it.

  3. Launch OBS Studio and click the “Login” button on either the “Tools” menu - “SRC-Link Settings” or “SRC-Link dock”.

  4. A web browser will open and an approval screen will appear. Click the “Approve” button.

Once the browser indicates that you may close it, OBS Studio and the SRC-Link Control Panel are connected and ready to use.

  5. Register with the host's receiver. There are two ways to register: send a guest code to the host to be added, or have the host generate an invitation code and enter it yourself.

    • For guest codes

Open the Guest Codes menu in the SRC-Link Control Panel and copy the default, sample-generated guest code or click “Create” to create a new one. Click on “Create” to create a new one. When you create a new one, you can set the expiration date of the code.

    • For invitation codes

If the host knows your email address and you receive an email from the SRC-Link Control Panel email address noreply@src-link.live, please click on the attached activation URL to accept it.

If the host only sends you an invitation code (via chat, etc.), click the “Redeem Invitation Code” button in the Guest menu of the SRC-Link Control Panel and enter that code.

  6. Once you become a receiver member, the receiver will appear in the “SRC-Link” dock in OBS Studio (If you are participating in more than one receiver, please select one in the pull-down menu. Only one receiver can be on standby at a time)

Selecting a receiver activates the “uplink” and makes the source selectable. Assign each of them an OBS Studio source to be used as a clean-feed. The number and content of sources is specified by the host by its name (e.g., Webcam, Game Capture, etc.)

Although the source may be specified, it can be set to “none” by the guest, but please consult with the host on how to use the source. Each source should be set according to the prior arrangement with the host, as the host may have an expectation of how the source is to be used in the main broadcast.

Click the “gear” icon for each source to set the bit rate, video/audio encoder, and audio source. The bitrate is ultimately limited to the range specified by the host.

The resolution is fixed to the host side specification. Note that the aspect ratio of the source side is ignored as a current specification. (e.g., putting a 4:3 source into a 16:9 source will stretch it horizontally)

  7. By default, the SRC-Link uplink is set to interlock with the “Virtual Cam”. Therefore, when the “Virtual Camera” in OBS Studio is started, the SRC-Link uplink is also put into standby.

The other functions that can be selected are “Streaming”, “Recording”, “Streaming or Recording”, or “Always ON”.

The standby should be a state in which it is ready for the host to view the video and audio at any time.

If you do not want the source to be viewed, leave standby or mute the source by clicking on the “eye” icon on the uplink.

  8. If you have finished your shift and wish to exit the receiver, in the Guest menu of the SRC-Link control panel, Click the “ Leave” button on the membership.
