A Syriac keyboard is built-in to macOS as of version 12.0 (Monterey) by default
Apple Logo > System Preferences > Keyboard > Input Sources > '+' > Assyrian > select Syriac (Arabic) or Syriac (QWERTY)
Install the Syriac Aramaic keyboard on your Mac
The script will install the Assyrian keyboard, and a variety of fonts in the Estrangela, Madenkhaya and Serto scripts. The script will also enable a menu bar icon that'll allow you to switch between the keyboard and other installed keybaords.
- Download this repository on to your Mac (https://github.com/SargisYonan/SyriacKeyboard/archive/master.zip)
- Unzip master.zip, and open up the folder
- Execute the setup.command script (or setup_arabic_phonetic.command for an Arabic phonetic keyboard layout) on your Mac (you may have to enable permissions in System Preferences)
- The script will ask you to reboot when complete (for changes to take effect).
A new menu item will be added to the left of the date (if one did not exist already) where "Syriac Phonetic" can be selected.
