[ Upstream commit 47f15561b69e226bfc034e94ff6dbec51a4662af ] When building the kernel for arm with the "-mabi=apcs-gnu" option, gcc will force alignment of all structures and unions to a word boundary (see also STRUCTURE_SIZE_BOUNDARY and the "-mstructure-size-boundary=XX" option if you're a gcc person), even when the members of said structures do not want or need said alignment. This completely messes up the structure alignment of 'struct edid' on those targets, because even though all the embedded structures are marked with "__attribute__((packed))", the unions that contain them are not. This was exposed by commit f1e4c916f97f ("drm/edid: add EDID block count and size helpers"), but the bug is pre-existing. That commit just made the structure layout problem cause a build failure due to the addition of the BUILD_BUG_ON(sizeof(*edid) != EDID_LENGTH); sanity check in drivers/gpu/drm/drm_edid.c:edid_block_data(). This legacy union alignment should probably not be used in the first place, but we can fix the layout by adding the packed attribute to the union entries even when each member is already packed and it shouldn't matter in a sane build environment. You can see this issue with a trivial test program: union { struct { char c[5]; }; struct { char d; unsigned e; } __attribute__((packed)); } a = { "1234" }; where building this with a normal "gcc -S" will result in the expected 5-byte size of said union: .type a, @object .size a, 5 but with an ARM compiler and the old ABI: arm-linux-gnu-gcc -mabi=apcs-gnu -mfloat-abi=soft -S t.c you get .type a, %object .size a, 8 instead, because even though each member of the union is packed, the union itself still gets aligned. [ Upstream commit b86eb74098a92afd789da02699b4b0dd3f73b889 ] The asm constraint does not reflect the fact that the asm statement can modify the value of the local variable loops. Which it does. Specifying the wrong constraint may lead to undefined behavior, it may clobber random stuff (e.g. local variable, important temporary value in regs, etc.). This is especially dangerous when the compiler decides to inline the function and since it doesn't know that the value gets modified, it might decide to use it from a register directly without reloading it. Change the constraint to "+a" to denote that the first argument is an input and an output argument. [ Upstream commit 623af4f538b5df9b416e1b82f720af7371b4c771 ] Commit 6960b0d ("fsnotify: change locking order") changed some of the mark_mutex locks in direct reclaim path to use: mutex_lock_nested(&group->mark_mutex, SINGLE_DEPTH_NESTING); This change is explained: "...It uses nested locking to avoid deadlock in case we do the final iput() on an inode which still holds marks and thus would take the mutex again when calling fsnotify_inode_delete() in destroy_inode()." The problem is that the mutex_lock_nested() is not a nested lock at all. In fact, it has the opposite effect of preventing lockdep from warning about a very possible deadlock. Due to these wrong annotations, a deadlock that was introduced with nfsd filecache in kernel v5.4 went unnoticed in v5.4.y for over two years until it was reported recently by Khazhismel Kumykov, only to find out that the deadlock was already fixed in kernel v5.5. Fix the wrong lockdep annotations. This case should be checked before any use of the iterator, otherwise it will lead to a invalid memory access. The missing check here is before "pin = iterm->id;", just add check here to fix the security bug. In addition, the list iterator value will *always* be set and non-NULL by list_for_each_entry(), so it is incorrect to assume that the iterator value will be NULL if the element is not found in list, considering the (mis)use here: "if (iterm == NULL". Android sets the value to 50ms via vold's IdleMaint service. Since 500ms is too long for GC to colllect all invalid segments in time which results in performance degradation. On un-encrypted device, vold fails to set this value to 50ms thus degrades the performance over time. Based on [1]. Since the name on disk is case preserving, and also encrypted, we can no longer just recompute the hash on the fly. Additionally, to avoid leaking extra information from the hash of the unencrypted name, we use siphash via an fscrypt v2 policy. The hash is stored at the end of the directory entry for all entries inside of an encrypted and casefolded directory apart from those that deal with '.' and '..'. This way, the change is backwards compatible with existing ext4 filesystems. Load_balancer considers only cfs running tasks for finding busiest cpu to do load balancing. But cpu may be busy with other type tasks (ex: RT), then that cpu might not selected as busy cpu due to weight vs nr_run checks fails). And possibley cfs tasks running on that cpu would suffer till other type tasks finishes or weight checks passes, while other cpus sitting idle and not able to do load balance. So, consider all running tasks to check cpu busieness. The busy_factor, which increases load balance interval when a cpu is busy, is set to 32 by default. This value generates some huge LB interval on large system like the THX2 made of 2 node x 28 cores x 4 threads. For such system, the interval increases from 112ms to 3584ms at MC level. And from 228ms to 7168ms at NUMA level. Even on smaller system, a lower busy factor has shown improvement on the fair distribution of the running time so let reduce it for all. sched domains tend to trigger simultaneously the load balance loop but the larger domains often need more time to collect statistics. This slowness makes the larger domain trying to detach tasks from a rq whereas tasks already migrated somewhere else at a sub-domain level. This is not a real problem for idle LB because the period of smaller domains will increase with its CPUs being busy and this will let time for higher ones to pulled tasks. But this becomes a problem when all CPUs are already busy because all domains stay synced when they trigger their LB. A simple way to minimize simultaneous LB of all domains is to decrement the the busy interval by 1 jiffies. Because of the busy_factor, the interval of larger domain will not be a multiple of smaller ones anymore. The 25% default imbalance threshold for DIE and NUMA domain is large enough to generate significant unfairness between threads. A typical example is the case of 11 threads running on 2x4 CPUs. The imbalance of 20% between the 2 groups of 4 cores is just low enough to not trigger the load balance between the 2 groups. We will have always the same 6 threads on one group of 4 CPUs and the other 5 threads on the other group of CPUS. With a fair time sharing in each group, we ends up with +20% running time for the group of 5 threads. Consider decreasing the imbalance threshold for overloaded case where we use the load to balance task and to ensure fair time sharing. When a boosted task gets throttled, what normally happens is that it's immediately enqueued again with ENQUEUE_REPLENISH, which replenishes the runtime and clears the dl_throttled flag. There is a special case however: if the throttling happened on sched-out and the task has been deboosted in the meantime, the replenish is skipped as the task will return to its normal scheduling class. This leaves the task with the dl_throttled flag set. Now if the task gets boosted up to the deadline scheduling class again while it is sleeping, it's still in the throttled state. The normal wakeup however will enqueue the task with ENQUEUE_REPLENISH not set, so we don't actually place it on the rq. Thus we end up with a task that is runnable, but not actually on the rq and neither a immediate replenishment happens, nor is the replenishment timer set up, so the task is stuck in forever-throttled limbo. Clear the dl_throttled flag before dropping back to the normal scheduling class to fix this issue. I have recently flash this kernel and load some rtl-link modules to get my TP link w227 working but hci0 not working i also tired to fix this error using blueblinder script but none of them work for me . Could anyone please help for me to enable this.
