Privacy Lab: Building the Privacy Frontier

Want to learn about the future of digital privacy? Join us online for a discussion of recent developments in emerging privacy and anonymity technologies, with presentations by builders and architects of free and open-source software projects. We'll talk about anonymous mix networks, cryptocurrency, and detection of data snooping by intermediaries.

This event is organized by the Privacy Lab initiative and will be hosted on BigBlueButton, a privacy-respecting streaming service. All software projects presented are Free and Open-Source Software (FOSS).

  • 1:00PM EDT - Esther Onfroy of Defensive Lab Agency and PiRogue project https://pts-project.org

    Esther will discuss PiRogue tool suite (PTS), powerful software for mobile forensic & network analysis.
    
  • 2:00PM EDT - Ahmed Ghappour, Associate Professor of Law, BU School of Law and General Counsel for Nym https://nymtech.net/ Ahmed will discuss the Nym mix network, mass surveillance, and the importance of network privacy and its place in the privacy stack.

  • 3:00PM EDT - Seth For Privacy, Head of Content for Foundation Devices and Host of Opt Out Podcast https://sethforprivacy.com

    Seth will present an overview of the Monero privacy-focused cryptocurrency, with a discussion of the regulatory impact on private transactions.
    
  • 4:00PM EDT - Matt Millen and Csilla Brimer of Willenrimer Consulting https://willenrimer.com

    Matt and Csill will discuss recent developments in Monero, Monerotopia, and the upcoming Lightning Hackathon.
    
  • 5:00PM EDT - Sean O'Brien, Visiting Lecturer at Yale Law School and Visiting Fellow at the Information Society Project

A link will be posted and sent to attendees approximately 15 minutes before the start of the event. We are using BigBlueButton (https://bigbluebutton.org) which only requires a Web browser. Best viewed via Firefox, Brave, or Chrome/Chromium.
