This window may deserve explanations.

The Camera View allows to:

  • record camera position and target
  • switch between those view angles in a smooth way
  • spin the camera around the board

This may look like a gadget if you are just playing, as you can easily use the mouse to change the point of view in the board window, but it gets much more useful if you are recording a video. Say you have a nice match in the history and want to produce a beautiful video out of it. Just record in advance the points of view then replay the game from the history while clicking the various artefacts from the Camera view window. The result will be much smoother than if you do the camera movements by hand.

To record a point of view, i.e. remember the exact camera position and target from the current board window: click the + sign next to View points. You can rename or remove the view point by clicking the buttons that appear when you pass the mouse over the entries in the list.

To add a new speed, click the + sign next to Speeds. You can now select this new speed to be used in the next movement, or in a spin operation (in this case, the timing corresponds to a full 360 turn).

Use the spin buttons to start turning around the camera target clockwise or counter-clockwise.

To control the smoothing, change the Smooth parameter (corresponding to the R parameter in Kalman algorithm). Default is 0.001. You can try 0.01 for a sharper movement, 0.0001 for something smoother.

At any moment, you can press the pause button to stop the camera movement.
