Aseba 1.6 release announcement
The ETH Zurich Game Technology Center is happy to announce the immediate release of the Aseba software version 1.6.
Aseba (http://aseba.io) is an open-source software framework that allows beginners to program robots easily and efficiently. It is the core software technology on which the Thymio® educational robot is built. Aseba includes an interactive programming environment, a text programming language, and a visual programming language for the Thymio® robot. Aseba was originally created by Dr. Stéphane Magnenat during his PhD at the Mobots group at EPFL, and further developed at ETH Zurich with contributions from Inria, EPFL, Mobsya association, and other individuals. The complete list of authors is available online.
The highlight of this new release is a robot simulator featuring several robots including a virtual Thymio®, allowing children to start learning robotics and programming even when no robot is available. This simulator is based on the Enki open-source robot simulator, by the same author and colleagues. This release is the result of a collaborative work led by Dr. Magnenat of GTC, with contributions from David Sherman and Thibault Laine from Inria, Michael Bonani, Corentin Jabot, Vincent Becker, and Elisa Bernardoni from the Mobsya association, Yves Piguet from EPFL, and other minor contributions.
