Slacktack is a Chrome extension that allows you to override and customize the names of chatrooms in Slack. Personalize your workspace by renaming channels to something more meaningful or easier to recognize!

Installation

  1. Clone or download the repository to your local machine.
  2. Open Chrome and navigate to chrome://extensions/.
  3. Enable Developer mode in the top-right corner.
  4. Click Load unpacked and select the Slacktack folder.

Usage

  1. Click on the Slacktack icon in the Chrome toolbar to open the popup.
  2. Enter the Original Name of the Slack chatroom and the New Name you wish to use, then click Save.
  3. The chatroom names will update in real-time on the Slack web page.
  4. To clear all custom name overrides, click the Clear All Tacks button and confirm your choice.
