Looks okay to me as long as we are sure we don't want a hyphen in any part of the identifier.

Do you know if AppCenter or Flathub source code has a similar regex they validate against? If there is, we could use that as a reference.

Flatpak docs has some links and examples of bad IDs. Might be an opportunity to write some tests? https://docs.flatpak.org/en/latest/conventions.html#application-ids

Is an improvement, but I think I'd still like to see tests in the future to make sure we're covering all the cases correctly
