In its current state reportMD is largely constrained to sequential rendering of documents in a report. It also works best when used from RStudio. In cases where the analysis is computationally expensive it would be great if there were an easy way to submit documents to an HPC or cloud computing environment for rendering, exploiting potential for parallel processing as much as the inter-document dependencies allow.
One way to achieve this would be to generate a workflow description that can then be used with a workflow management tool to ensure the appropriate compute jobs are submitted. Ideally this should work with as many workflow management systems as possible. Generating a workflow description in CWL looks promising.
