You can push to master to see changes of the web site, but a local tool in Docker or Ubuntu will greatly speed up development (and let you edit away from the master branch).
If you have docker running, the quickest dev enviornment that mounts the local directories in a container is (working in the home directory of the cloned repository):
docker run --rm --volume="$PWD/docs:/srv/jekyll" --publish 4000:4000 jekyll/jekyll jekyll serve
# Ubuntu 18.04 desktop
sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade -y
sudo apt install -y emacs git cmake openssh-server
sudo apt install -y ruby-full build-essential zlib1g-dev
if ! grep GEM_HOME ~/.bashrc
then
echo '# Install Ruby Gems to ~/gems' >> ~/.bashrc
echo 'export GEM_HOME="$HOME/gems"' >> ~/.bashrc
echo 'export PATH="$HOME/gems/bin:$PATH"' >> ~/.bashrc
source ~/.bashrc
fi
sudo gem update --system
gem install jekyll bundler
cd ~/projects # whereever you keep your projects

test -d $REPO || git clone git@github.com:icpc/$REPO.git
cd $REPO/docs
bundle install
bundle exec jekyll serve --host 0.0.0.0
