Week 3 Wrap Up
Hello Pioneers 👋!
Congratulations on finishing week 3 of the 4th iteration of the Plutus Pioneer program.
This weekly blog wraps up what you learn each week and gives an outline of the content for next week. We hope that you all enjoyed the third lecture with Lars and the team and had a fantastic learning experience!
Here is a quick recap on the learning outcomes from week 3:
- Learn about the script context.
- Explain how Plutus scripts manage script context via the
ScriptContextV2
data type. - Handle time in transactions using the
POSIXTimeRange
data type. - Describe how the time range works in Cardano while sending transactions to the blockchain.
- Use Plutus to implement a time-handling example.
- Define parameters to provide information to a smart contract.
- Explain the differences between using the datum or parameters to define values in smart contracts.
- Understand how to create off-chain code by using Lucid.
- Relate how a simple DApp for Cardano can be created using Lucid.
- Understand how reference scripts work in the Vasil hard fork.
- Restate the benefits of using reference scripts.
Our Q & A session took place on March 14th, at 4:00 pm GMT. Unfortunately, we could not record the session due to a technical issue, but we encourage you to follow up by asking your questions on Discord and Cardano Stack Exchange.
Recall that we won't have a new lecture this week as Lars is taking some time-off. Thus, we are inserting a consolidation week into the course, meaning that Lecture 4 will be released next week on Thursday, March 23rd. Meanwhile, next Tuesday's Q & A is happening at the normal time (March 21st - 16:00-17:00 UTC). This short time-off is meant as a chance for pioneers to catch up and consolidate their knowledge.
Remember that you can follow all the lectures on the IOG Academy YouTube channel and the 4th iteration Playbook, where you will find additional learning resources and links to the resources presented in each lesson.
We encourage you to interact with the participants of the PPP through the IOG technical community on Discord by joining the channels under the Plutus Pioneers category.
If during the program you have questions about Plutus, we invite you to share them on Cardano Stack Exchange (CSE) by adding the plutus-pioneer-program
tag to your question. Members of the IOG Education team will monitor these questions regularly to support your learning journey. Whenever you share a question at CSE, you're helping to build up the Cardano and Plutus development knowledge base.
Thank you for your efforts this week and we look forward to bringing you more learning content next week!
