My recipes

Code for the My Recipes app data API. It's just a simple rails-api app.

Running it locally

In order to get the application running locally, you first need to run the docker container of the database. To do this, you will need to have installed docker and docker-compose on your machine.

Then simply run docker-compose up, this will start the postrgres docker image and the pgAdmin image, to provide better control over the database.

Now you are ready to start the app invoking rails s as always.

Database creation / Initialization

With the docker image running, invoke rake db:migrate, this will run the database migrations to create the needed tables. There is also a seed file that will generate random recipes, use rake db:seed.
