A dynamic personalized news feed. InComb uses RSS feeds to fetch news, parse them, add them to a Lucene index and display them nicely to the user. The user is able to set his/her news preferences in an intuitive and beautiful interface: User Settings

How to run InComb

Docker (recommended)

  1. Pull the docker image from mbharanya/incomb:latest, or build it using docker/Dockerfile
  2. Check out docker-compose.yaml for setting up the database
  3. Expose the file incomb_config.json and a folder indexes to apply your settings (check docker volumes)
  4. Execute the schema sql docker exec -i incomb_mysql mysql -uroot -p < src/main/sql/schema.sql
  5. Execute the data sql docker exec -i incomb_mysql mysql -uroot -p < src/main/sql/data.sql
  6. Run docker-compose
  7. Check out localhost:8888

Bare metal

  1. Create a new MySQL database from the schema in src/main/sql/schema.sql
  2. Execute src/main/sql/data.sql
  3. Adjust your settings in WebContent/WEB-INF/conf/incomb_config.json

Deploying InComb

  1. Use scripts in the deploy folder to run InComb in production

  • Problem: Categories redirect to a 404

    Solution: Recreate categories index (api/indexes/com.incomb.server.categories.indexing.CategoryIndexType)
