Some time ago I started work on a sequel to Oi, Grandad! It was built more or less from scratch, had lots of fancy new features and used up about 50% of your CPU simply by being turned on. This has been scrapped in favour of a more evolutionary approach. So here's Oi, Grandad! v2 as it was always supposed to be:

New Features:

  • Each voice now has (up to) four position sliders
  • Modulators now have four selectable stages
  • Per voice waveguide resonator
  • Various pitch quantisation options
  • Dedicated Master control page allowing for quick modification of each voice
  • Sync modulators to DAW transport
  • 'Led' indicators for round robin mode
  • Comprehensive, post synth routing options
  • Fancy new UI

Fixes:

  • Disappearing modulation knobs!
  • Smoother Xfade transitions
  • Drone knob now resets when changing preset

Other:

  • Max grain size is now calculated on loading a sample
  • Samples and presets are now stored outside the users home directory (Mac & windows)
  • Approx. 80% compatible with v1 presets

99 Red Grandads
Stupid noises in your head

Yes, it's finally arrived, the final version before v1.0. It brings the following exciting new features:

  • Semitone pitch control
  • Old Linux support (who'd have thunk it? backwards compatibility is almost as bad as on MacOS)

1.0 will probably be limited to a final UI clean up, and any other minor bugs that come up in the meantime. After that, we'll begin the long road to v2 which may include the following delights:

  • If I can pull it off, I'd like to redo the entire granular engine in Faust now that it is integrated with HISE. The barrier is that I know literally nothing about Faust. I might have to make a pact with someone..
  • Finally figure out why modern version of Logic are so goddamn picky about buffer size
  • Scaled Quantisers on the modulators. This is entirely doable , just hard
  • Proper amp envelopes. The lack of a release stage in an synth largely designed for ambient stuff is an insult to all that is decent and good
