Video Chat is a real-time web application where two or more users are able to connect and communicate with each other using Video through WebRTC.
- EJS - Embedded Javascript templates
- PeerJs - Simplifies WebRTC peer-to-peer data, video, and audio calls.
- Express - Server-side
- Socket.io - Socket.IO enables real-time, bidirectional, and event-based communication.
- UUID - For the creation of RFC4122 UUIDs
Install Peer as a global environment to allow Peer communication through WebRTC
npm install -g peerjsInstall Nodemon for automatically restarting the node application when file changes in the directory are detected.
npm install -g nodemonLaunch the web application
npm run startFor development purposes
npm run dev- Launch peer server
npm run peerorpeerjs --port 3002 - Open your favorite browser, personally, I use Chrome. then go to
localhost:3000 - You will be automatically redirected to a new link for example
http://localhost:3000/d0d0b86f-2d4c-4615-8ef6-c9760b92f5b7
- NOTE:
d0d0b86f-2d4c-4615-8ef6-c9760b92f5b7the following ID is your unique room ID
- Open a different browser and try to access the same link
- You will be able to see your multiple video screening.
