Taking Elexis to the Web
Warning: some pages of this wiki are quite outdated and refer to earlier Versions
The OpenSource physician's practice software 'Elexis' has become one of the major players in the swiss medical software market. Since its launch in 2005 it grew from a one-man-show to a project, powered by an OpenSource Community, generously led bei Niklaus Giger, and a commercial Company, Medelexis AG.
One drawback of the increasing complexity of the Elexis System is a remarkable decrease of speed, and another is, that the user interface, a Eclipse RCP, has come of age.
Webelexis, being primarily a hobby project and a playground for me, tries to develop a new approach to some of the features of Elexis, mainly a web based surface (hence the name 'Webelexis').
So, the main tasks are:
-
create a user interface based on modern techniques, which should be usable with PC's as well as with mobile devices. (Why?)
-
create a server
-
define a transport concept
