1. Receiving Slips

The sample image below shows the phone message that a conductor will send you when you are assigned a ministry slip (Fig 1).

If the given website has a different name or domain to the one your Ministry Mapper team has hosted, please do not open the link, and inform your elder, Ministry Mapper team or Service Overseer (SO).

2. Viewing the Slip

Upon opening and viewing the ministry slip, you should be able to see the following items (Fig 2):

  1. The stated address of the slip
  2. The floors and units (for public houses like apartment buildings), or house property numbers (for private houses like bungalows)
  3. An information button (ⓘ) located at the top right corner of the slip

If any of these details are missing in your slip, kindly inform your elder or SO.

3. Getting Directions

If you would like to know how to go to an address stated on the slip, tap on the information button (ⓘ), and select “Direction” (Fig 3.0 - 3.1). It will open up the Google Maps app and show you the location of the address.

For private addresses, you may realise that there is a separate postal code for a particular house. To get the direction for that house, tap on the house in the ministry slip. In the form, tap the “Direction” button. It will open up the Google Maps app and show you the location of the address.

4. Marking Slips

To mark a unit or house on a ministry slip, tap on the box belonging to the desired unit/house (Fig 4.0). A form will appear, displaying the postal code and unit number on its header.

Statuses

In the row of statuses, tap the button belonging to the current status of the unit (Fig 4.1):

  1. Not Done indicates that the unit/house has not been knocked on by any publishers yet. These units/houses will be highlighted in green (unless the householder is Malay).

  2. Done indicates that the unit/house has been knocked on by a publisher, and the householder has responded. This will be indicated with a green tick (✅) on the slip.

  3. Not Home indicates that the unit/house has been knocked on by at least one publisher with no response. The number of tries indicates now many times the publisher(s) have called on the unit/house. This will be indicated with an envelope icon (✉️), with the number stated on top of it. If the householder is not at home on the first try, the unit/house will remain highlighted in green. Any subsequent not-at-home tries will grey out the unit/house.

  4. DNC/Do Not Call indicates that the unit/house belongs to a householder hostile to publishers. Publishers who encountered such a householder should indicate when they encountered them on the provided calendar in the form. Publishers can also provide further reasons for their hostility in the “Notes” section. This will be indicated with a prohibited icon (🚫) on the slip.

  5. Invalid indicates that the unit/house does not exist. These are applicable for combined units, such as shophouses, jumbo flats, and maisonettes, or certain floors with lesser units. This will be indicated with a black cross (✖️) on the slip.

Household Ethnicity

In the “Household” section, select the ethnicity of the householder according to the ones provided in the list. If you are unable to discern, or find in the list the ethnicity of the householder, choose “Others” (Fig 4.3). You may indicate the ethnicity in the “Notes” section.

The following initials will be shown on the slip belonging to the householder’s ethnicity of the unit:

  • No initial — Chinese householder
  • ml — Malay householder
  • in — Indian householder
  • fp — Filipino householder
  • id — Indonesian householder
  • bm — Burmese/Myanmar householder
  • th — Thai householder
  • vn — Vietnamese householder
  • ot — Householder of another ethnicity

For addresses with large amount of units/houses, you will notice certain undone units/houses becoming emphasised with darker green outlines after 90% of the slip has been completed. This is to help you identify undone units/houses easily when there are many markings on the slip (Fig. 4.4).

Notes

You may also include relevant notes about the unit that other publishers should know about, such as the unit being under renovation or is vacant. Please do not include any personal information in the notes section. Units that contain any notes will be indicated with a notepad icon (🗒️) on the slip.

5. Receiving Instructions (from Administrators)

Should there be any instructions given to you by the conductor in the ministry slip, the information button (ⓘ) will blink in your slip (Fig 5.0). To view the instruction, tap the information button and select “Instructions” in the dropdown list.

Fig. 5.0

You will now be able to view the instructions given to you by your conductor (Fig 5.1). To go back to viewing the slip, tap the “Close” button.
