(This project is in an early development stage.)
**Plur** is both an application framework and a nodal network cloud platform that scales apps and services across VMs.

Plur is a distributed Web3 application platform that is intended to scale across networks of virtual machines. The framework
is designed to improve cross-platform code reuse by allowing most of the same libraries to be imported on both backend and
frontend applications.

One or more plur services run on each plur network node (application), communicating with local services directly
and with remote services through encrypted message forwarding.

Plur networks are controlled by management services that receive and react to metrics from other plur services as well
as to new directives by the network administrators. Management services start, stop, and reconfigure other plur
services dynamically, based on changing operational requirements.

Common third-party software services (e.g., PostgreSQL, Memcached, etc.) are isolated from communicating with anything other than their locally running plur node, which forwards only authorized requests from application servers.
The **framework** provides reusable cross-platform JS libraries for rapid development of both front-end and server-side applications. Applications are **interconnected** as plur *nodes* out of the box. The API also provides basic identity, authentication, and message passing.

The cloud **platform** builds on top of the framework, scaling core API services across a nodal network that we call a plur **cloud**. Each plur _cloud_ operates as simple network appliance that may be started and stopped at will. Internally, the cloud contains plur **nodes** that control VMs, authenticate requests, route messages, and scale any apps or services developed with the plur framework.

Core Stack
----------
Javascript is the primary programming language used for both server-side and client-side API.

Linux is the targeted server-side environment.

HTML5/CSS is used for presentation on client-side applications.

PostgreSQL is the primary database service used.

Git is used to distribute open-source modules and upgrades within the platform.
