## EEG-BIDS

The data in this tutorial are organized according to the [EEG BIDS format](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-specification/blob/master/src/04-modality-specific-files/03-electroencephalography.md). You can read more on the specificities of the EEG-BIDS format [here](https://www.nature.com/articles/s41597-019-0104-8). EEGLAB has a dedicated plugin called [bids-matlab-tools](https://github.com/sccn/bids-matlab-tools) to export and import BIDS datasets. This plugin is available using the EEGLAB plugin manager and must be installed before running the scripts in this tutorial. It is worthwhile spending some time looking at how the files are organized in this BIDS example, as we will follow this convention throughout.

## Download the data
The EEG data used in this example comes from [Wakeman and Henson (2015)](https://www.nature.com/articles/sdata20151). In this experiment, simultaneous MEG-EEG data were collected while subjects viewed famous, unfamiliar, and scrambled faces. Each image was repeated three times, and subjects pressed one of two keys with their left or right index finger, indicating how symmetric they regarded each image relative to the average.
