But I noticed that the embedded webview doesn't support a service worker and as such this solution differes from an app created by "Progressive Web App' project template that does support a SW.
Would there be a way to move to same webview as PWA are using to get support for a SW?

That is a great question! I initially wrote this as an attempt to workaround a limitation in the Windows contact panel (won't activate for WWAHost apps). You can see it in use here:
I haven't really finished it though... mostly because people stopped asking for it.
