Colorful Storage for Übersicht
Note: This is an incomplete widget and is currently a work in progress. Any downloaded files should be checked for accuracy before running. All readme content is written as though this is a finished work. This repo is currently used as a learning tool for myself and embodies the direction and final state I hope to see.
This is a disk usage widget for Übersicht. This widget is designed to go along with ubersicht-memory-bar and based off of DiskUsage-Bar-Widget, modified to further display exactly which files are taking up all your space. Just like the colors in "About this Mac," each color corresponds to each type of file:
- Audio
- Movies
- Photos
- Apps
- Other
Running Colorful Storage will help you focus in on which types of files are taking up the most space with just a quick glance of your desktop.
In order to run this widget, you must first have Übersicht installed. PLease visit the official site to download the latest copy for OSX 10.10+.
This widget is installed by placing it inside your widgets folder. Once placed, it will automatically be enabled.

Locate the downloaded widget. After pressing download, the widget will usually be placed in your Downloads folder. Look for a zip file ending in .widget. Unzip the file which results in a folder with the same name. Note that some browsers will automatically unzip the file for you.

Open your widgets folder. Select 'Open Widgets Folder' from the Übersicht menu in the top menu bar.

Move the widget to your widgets folder. Drag the widget from your Downloads folder to the widgets folder you opened in step 2.

- Finish back-end code to query for each file type on disk.
- Refine display code to match OS X system design.
- Include proper screenshots of running widget.
- Write additional comments within widget to aid user in setup.
