The project was created for the class Intro to Engineering and is a group project created by Hung Le, Virgina Cater, Zoe Wakayama, Sean Aochi, and Uyen Nguyen. As Engineering 10 shows how a typical project can come together in the career, the project shows how multiple fields of Engineering can come together to create a robot. This project requires the skills of those in the mechanical, electrical, and computer/software fields. About the Assignment

In this project, an autonomous robot is built to perform some tasks that replicates a simple service robot that travels from one part of an area to another. The reqired tasks include the robot moving to a red beacon, turning it off, then finding a green beacon, turing that off, and bringing the green beacon out of the arena the beacons were enclosed in. The robot not only turns on and off the beacons but also navigate itself around the arena as it searches or removes whatever is needed. All group memebers participated in all aspects of the project, though each were concentrated in an aspect based on their pursuing major.   • Mechanics: The robot was built with metal parts and robotic pieces from Vex Robotics kits that have been recycled. Other items that belong to group members, such as fishing lines were also used. Aochi and Wakayama were in charge of designing and building the robot.
  • Electrical: The robot's cuircuts were soldered by hand. Hung and Cater focused on ensuring that the robot's curcuits are connected.
  • Programming: The robot is program in Easy C, a modified version of C language. Nguyen and Cater were in charge of programming the basic tasks the robot has to do. The premade code that allows the robot to read beacon signals was given, and only the code for naviation and arm movement was coded by hand.
