Conway's Game of Life Implementation in Ruby
gem install golife-cli
Just run the golife
command as follows
golife
To run in Development mode:
bundle exec ./exe/golife
Building gem:
gem build golife-cli.gemspec
Install from generated gem:
gem install golife-cli-<version>.gem
Publishing to RubyGems:
gem push golife-cli-<version>.gem
After checking out the repo, run bin/setup
to install dependencies. Then, run rake test
to run the tests. You can also run bin/console
for an interactive prompt that will allow you to experiment.
To install this gem onto your local machine, run bundle exec rake install
. To release a new version, update the version number in version.rb
, and then run bundle exec rake release
, which will create a git tag for the version, push git commits and tags, and push the .gem
file to rubygems.org.

- Any live cell with fewer than two live neighbours dies, as if by needs caused by underpopulation.
- Any live cell with more than three live neighbours dies, as if by overcrowding.
- Any live cell with two or three live neighbours lives, unchanged, to the next generation.
- Any dead cell with exactly three live neighbours becomes a live cell.
