Money is an interesting and important topic. On the one hand it grants greater liberty by offering a level of indirection of value storage. That is, it allows a free market where the buyer doesn't need to a trade item that the seller wants because money is convertable to anything as long as everyone agrees to it.

The pangaia project makes money by anchoring currency to actual work done for the system.

How do you get everyone to agree with it? Well, you can either have the domains of law which enforce it or domains bound by principles and loose consensus. But the power of these ideals and America's failing at executing them is stirring a transition -- a possible reason not to give up on the United States if you're a fellow citizen. Money is not the same as wealth if the money is not tied to either principles or a scarce item of common value, like gold (consider, for example, printing your own trillion-dollar note). America's ideals were noble, but since they haven't been upheld, the dollar should, in theory, be valued at the level of the Peso, the currency of its Mexican neighbor, a country that believes in liberty and justice. A community can make its own money (borrowing from the principle that "everyone agrees to it") if it feels that the current one doesn't reflect the values of their community. Key elements of currency are irreproducability, tradeability (size conducive to it), and stardardizable. (STUB Purity?)

In the New World Order (see Hack the Law #4), money is minted on precious metal, with the same units for each country. Different countries will have different faces showcasing the highlights of the region, but will be freely tradable across borders.

Monetary Policy

There should no printing of new money. Banks can sell/liquidate poor performers to get cash back into the system. Printing should happen when there is a true value to new growth. That means when there is a vision in which to invest in the people. In the present political climate, nearly any new growth is of the cancerous variety. There simply are no real leaders, only pundits and critics.

The smallest unit of currency can be based. on the smallest unit of agreen-upon "work", forming the basis of a common unit of currency. On the internet, I propose the unit vote up or down as the unit currency of the creative economy.

Until politics is at parity with activism, the latter who are creating the new growth, can create their own currencies and implement the World Game.
