06. Motor Sizing

Motor Sizing :

According to the requirements, the load on the motor is about 60 gm (due to drumstick). Considering the speed of re-flexing back of drumsticks we have chosen 120 rpm DC geared motor.

T= F*r

T=mg*(D/2)

T=(60/1000) kg * (1/2) cm

T= 0.03 kg cm

Factor of safety : 1.5

T(net) -> net torque = 1.5*0.03 = 0.05 kg cm

By taking in the rated rpm consideration at 12 V and the speed required for the tunes to be played, we have chosen 120 rpm DC geared motor.

Batter Sizing :

The motor used is 12 V DC motor. Two such motors are being used. The current drawn by the motor is 8 amperes. Total current drawn would be 16 amperes for the two motors. (Considering the power requirement to be 0.1 HP, as the torque is 0.05 for each motor, so for two motors it is 0.05*2 =0.1)
