1D STICS (space,time)
This command basically is the same as 2D STICS (space,time), but as an input it takes a single 8-,16-,32-bit image (kymograph). It assumes that in this image y-axis corresponds to time, while x-axis is a space.
As an output it generates an image where x-axis corresponds to the normalized cross-correlation in space direction averaged over a time delay specified by y-axis coordinate (time). The origin of coordinates in the output image is calibrated similarly to 2D cross-correlation.
In this command, there are two normalization methods applied to the denominator of cross-correlation function. It is either sum of all pixels, or sum of overlapping area under the current x-shift value.
This kind of approach is helpful for the analysis of kymographs (in microscopy vesicle transport field), where the density of moving particles is too high (too crowded). For example, see this or this publications.
