Remote Musicians Controls
Jamtaba puts in your hands all you need to create your own mix on the fly.
This is useful because not everyone has the same perception of the different instruments. It’s all about individual taste. With Jamtaba everyone can have it’s own local mix to be able to play comfortably.
Another great feature that comes with Jamtaba is that all the final positions of volume, pan, mute and boost of each individual track during a Jam are stored in a file for later use. This information is saved automatically (or not) using the Remember tab in the preferences menu (see below).
- Low Cut Filter:
Also called High pass filter will cut all frequencies below 120 Hz if clicked once (normal mode) or 180 Hz if clicked a second time (drastic mode). Press a third time to turn off the filter. Use this button to shape the sound of fat guitars or keyboards so other Bass instruments don't loose definition.
- Receive button:
Use this button to completely stop receiving audio from the corresponding track. Works similar to the mute button except that no data will be streamed to your computer saving download bandwidth. By default it's set to ON for all tracks automatically. When pushed it will turn red so you can know which channel was turned off manually. This setting is not stored for later use in the cache, so it will be reset when leaving the room.
- Download Speed (Kbps):
This is the individual bandwidth a specific user is using and sending to the server.
- Remember preferences:
Select the item you want Jamtaba to save for future use when restarted.
- Automute and autolevel remote channel for loud signals:
When a user is too loud the channel will be automatically lowered by 12db using the gain boost button. Jamtaba is using a -3 db threshold level in the RMS meter for detection (see Metering, Wave Drawing and View Modes for details on RMS meter).
If the level is still high and reaches 0 db RMS then the automute function will trigger the mute button. This works as a last resort protection for spammers.
- Receiving Voice chat streams:
As of version 2.1.11 Voice chat is supported. This means you can hear voice chat streams sent by Reaper or Jamtaba as soon as they reach the server. This mode is intended for near real-time conversations within a jam only. The quality is low and not suitable for jamming.
NOTE: when using voice chat, the button will blink so don't forget to turn it off when you resume jamming.
- Reaper's Session Mode:
At the moment if other users are using Reaper in Session Mode, they will appear in Jamtaba, but they will sound the same as normal mode. See Appendix for more information on this topic.
