Institutional Dynamics in OPD Order Processing
In CareCode HMIS, the processing of orders is intricately linked to the operational structure of the healthcare institution. Each order item is connected to specific institutional parameters, crucial for ensuring precision in service delivery and fostering inter-departmental collaboration. These parameters include 'fromInstitution/toInstitution' and 'toInstitution/toDepartment', which serve distinct functions in the billing process.
This parameter represents the institution where the user (typically a healthcare provider) is logged in. It is automatically determined based on the user's login details and location within the healthcare network.
Denotes the institution where the ordered service is provided or is planned to be provided. This is especially important in multi-institutional healthcare setups where services may be spread across different locations.
Indicates the department from which the order originates. This is directly tied to the user's current department at the time of logging into the system.
Refers to the department responsible for fulfilling the service or test included in the order. It is essential for directing the order to the appropriate service area within the institution.
In scenarios where a patient requires services from multiple departments (e.g., OPD for Cleaning and Dressing, and Laboratory for FBS, CRP tests), individual bills are generated for each department. Each bill encapsulates services rendered by that specific department, ensuring accurate financial and service tracking.
Despite the generation of individual bills, a single batch bill is also created to provide a consolidated view of all services ordered during the patient's visit. This batch bill includes references to each individual bill, allowing for a comprehensive overview of the patient’s interactions across different departments.
Every department within CareCode HMIS is associated with an institution. An institution can encompass multiple departments, each specializing in different areas of healthcare service. Upon logging into the system, healthcare providers are required to select their department. This selection automatically determines the associated institution, streamlining the order entry process and ensuring that services are correctly attributed to the relevant department and institution.
