RFID Technology

radha edited this page Dec 6, 2017 · 1 revision

RFID technology consists of a reader and a tag which gets activated when it is in the range of the reader.

The reader has a signal generator(to emit RF), a signal detector(to detect RF) and a uC to process the info.

A tag can be passive, active or semi-passive[Passive meaning it relies on the reader for power to transmit the signal back to the reader when it is in the reader's range.]. A passive tag has a transponder(a device for receiving a radio signal and automatically transmitting a different signal), a rectifier, a capacitor(for storing energy obtd. from the RF signal) and a uC.
