YAML 1.2.1 Specification

The YAML 1.2.1 specification is an update of the 1.2 specification and defines YAML 1.2. There are no changes to the YAML language. The intent is to:

• Convert the spec to a markdown toolchain for easier contribution
• Fix errors and typos
• Fix bugs in the grammar productions
• Clarify confusing sections
• Improve the side-by-side examples using JSON counterparts
• Address issues filed about the spec over the years

The spec is well under way and can currently be viewed at:

The new 1.2.1 YAML specification is planned to be finalized and published in September of 2021.
