Search Sierra

The search sierra functionality allows to quickly query BPL and NYPL catalogs to find any matching records (duplicates) for orders in the current cart. The feature uses ISBNs and UPCs numbers if present on a resource to query BPL and NYPL middleware. The results of the search are displayed as small color coded icons next to resource title:

Additionally, the application provides means to lookup item records attached to exisitng in Sierra record by double clicking on the duplicate in Sierra icon:

Search Cart

The cart search functionality allows to search within the current cart for ISBN, UPC, WLO#, Order#, Bib#, Other#, Title or Author. Additionally it provides means to filter cart resources to see only orders that were identified as duplicates (must run prior search sierra function) or have a location that is temporarily closed. A user can navigate to given order by simply double clicking on the results lists. For tools to globally remove duplicates or temp locations, see cart validation section.

Tabulate Cart

  • View a Cart Summary of the number of titles, copies, and dollar amount allocated to each location in the cart
  • Delete removes an individual title from the cart

Validate Cart

The validation function allows to quickly identify any critical issues with order data: such as incomplete location codes, missing fund codes, a presence of temporarily closed location, any duplicates, etc. While some of the issues may require fixing of individual orders, other may be solved using its automatic removal tools. Please note three buttons on the bottom of the validation report:

  • rm closed allows to automatically remove from orders locations that are temporarily closed
  • rm cat dup allows to remove from the cart titles identified to have duplicate in the catalog
  • rm cart dup allows to remove from the cart titles identified as previously ordered

Under certain circumstances validation errors can be ignored and the application will still produce MARC21 records with provided data. The validation function serves as a warning to users that some data may be missing.
