Citation Schemes, Determining

This page assumes that you have a text file that you're trying to convert to CTS compliance, that you understand the basic markup requirements for CTS compliance, that you don't feel yourself to be an academic authority on the text contained in the file, and that you want to know what the canonical citation scheme is for the text, in order to modify the XML appropriately and write a working reference declaration.

The (imperfect) workflow currently used is:

  1. Check if there's currently a refsDecl. If the refsDecl makes intuitive sense, use that for the time being. If not, proceed to step 2.

  2. Check perseuscts.xml for the work, to see if there's a citationMapping element for the work that makes more sense. If so, use that for the time being. If not, proceed to step 3.
