3.6. Add Edit or Remove Measures
i. How to do it
: in the Score, click the name of the Section
you want to add a measure to; then right-click any part name and select Create child Measure
from the contextual menu.
ii. Hints
:
-
when using the
Score's contextual menu, measures are added to the last touchedSection
. Adding, changing or merely selecting anything inside aSection
will mark it aslast touched; -
to insert a measure between two existing measures, add it as described above, then use the
Nudge...
buttons in theToolbarto move it into place; -
make sure to switch to a
Voice
in the floating toolbar before you start adding content to your newly created measure; the floating toolbar retains your last selection preference (except for a voice2selection, which will default to a voice1selection when no second voice is available); -
see Measures (jump: TODO) for more details.
CHANGE TIME SIGNATURE
i. How to do it
: click inside a measure in the Score, and make sure that the M callout button of the floating toolbar is selected; in the Editor, check This measure sets its own time signature
and use the two sliders until you get the expected reading on the fraction display on the right.
ii. Hints
:
-
when you select, make sure that the
Editorheader readsMeasure
; -
measures not setting their own time signature inherit it from the last measure that does or use the default;
-
default time signature is
common time(4/4); -
time signatures
do nottranscend their currentSection
; if you want to use6/8to the end of your piece, you must explicitly set it at the beginning of eachSection
; -
increasing the capacity of a non-empty measure adds padding (
ghost) rests; decreasing it trims away padding rests (if any) but does not touch notes, chords or rests that you entered; -
see the Measure Node (jump: TODO) for more details.
CHANGE BAR TYPE
i. How to do it
: click inside a measure in the Score, and make sure that the M callout button of the floating toolbar is selected; in the Editor, under Bar type
, select either of the single, double or final barlines, or auto.
ii. Hints
:
-
when you select, make sure that the
Editorheader readsMeasure
; -
autosets afinalbarline at the end of the score, adoublebarline at the end of each section, and asinglebarline otherwise; -
see the Measure Node (jump: TODO) for more details.
REMOVE MEASURE
i. How to do it
: click inside the measure in the Score, and make sure that the M callout button of the floating toolbar is active; then click the Delete element
button in the Toolbar. Or right-click the already selected area, and choose Delete element
from the contextual menu.
ii. Hints
:
-
when you select, make sure that the
Editorheader readsMeasure
; -
