Crimping

Crimping is the most common process we use for attaching connectors to wires. An alternative method is to solder two wires together, but soldering becomes more difficult with larger gauge wires. Connectors make connecting and disconnecting two wires really easy, and a good connector will ensure a good electrical connection.
Important takeaways:
- Always use the right tool for the crimp
- Orient the crimp the correct way in the tool
- Strip just enough wire for it to come out the other side
- Color often indicates wire gauge: Red is 22-16 AWG, Blue is 16-14 AWG, and Yellow is 12-10 AWG.
