merbot is a telegram group administration bot. merbot was born back in the days when a regular Telegram group member able to change group picture, group name and invite other users. This was resulted in chaos, spams, spammers, XY spammers and many other threats that forced many groups destroyed because of group creator unable to remove the threats.

Nowadayas, Telegram group, especially supergroup, already built-in with basic anti-spam prevention. Telegram group administration bot is not as important as it was, but it's still usefull. Even if you have no need for a Telegram group administration bot, a combination of telegram-cli speed and lua custom plugins made merbot a blazzing fast and extendable multipurpose Telegram bot.
